Heather Reams is a highly respected non-profit executive and a nationally recognized conservative leader on all-of-the-above energy advocacy based in Washington, DC. Most recently she served a decade leading Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions (CRES) and CRES Forum where, under her visionary leadership, she shifted the narrative around clean energy, influencing legislative outcomes in support of carbon reduction strategies, advanced energy technologies, and economic opportunity.

Ms. Reams is largely credited as being the architect of center-right clean energy engagement and education. Among her most notable achievements are the 2017 founding of National Clean Energy Week and the Policy Makers Symposium, an annual fall convening of industry leaders, policymakers and stakeholders to highlight the benefits and contributions of clean energy. Also in 2017, she started the CRES Clean Energy Champion Awards for Congressional Republicans to recognize legislative achievements in support of clean energy.

In 2018, Reams organized the first nationwide Republican fly-in focused on clean energy advocacy, partnering with the Conservative Energy Network. The annual fly-in has since continued, even during the 2020 global pandemic.

In 2021, she founded Conservative Climate Foundation, a nonprofit organization that educates Members of Congress, their staff, and the public about clean energy and climate policy from a conservative angle, and later that year partnered with then-Representative John Curtis (R-UT) and 52 founding Members of Congress to create the House Conservative Climate Caucus. In late 2021, Reams co-led the first Republican-only Congressional delegation to the UN Climate Change Conference in Scotland, known as COP26, and led three subsequent congressional delegations to the international conference.

Building on her convening ability, in 2022, she established CRES Academy, educational programming exclusively for Capitol Hill staff and emerging leaders and later launched an annual spring symposium in Washington focused on Republican energy priorities.  

A frequent commentator on the politics and policy of clean energy and the environment, Ms. Reams has been featured on NPR, Newsmax TV, FOX News, CNN, The Washington Post, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Guardian, the Washington Examiner, Politico, Newsweek, Time, Roll Call, The Hill, Morning Consult and The Atlantic, among others. She is also a regular contributor to Real Clear Energy.

Ms. Reams volunteers her time supporting energy and conservation causes including serving on the board of the Foundation for the National Laboratory of the Rockies, the board of the American Conservation Coalition Action, and as a member of the National Academies Forum on Energy Systems Transformation and Decarbonization.

Ms. Reams began her career as a staffer in the offices of U.S. Senator Bob Smith (R-N.H.) and U.S. Congressman Gerald Weller (R-Ill.), and earlier as an intern for U.S. Senator Slade Gorton (R-Wash.) while pursuing her degree. She has held a number of senior nonprofit positions and spent a decade at several top D.C.-based public affairs firms.

A graduate of the University of Washington with a degree in Political Science, Ms. Reams resides in her home state of Virginia, with her husband, a retired Air Force lieutenant colonel, and their two children.
